Top 10 Benefits of Using Castor Oil Before Bedtime

by

Castor oil, derived from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant, has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and beauty routines. While it’s widely known for its laxative properties, castor oil offers a host of benefits when applied topically or used before bedtime. From promoting relaxation to enhancing skin and hair health, here are the top 10 reasons why incorporating castor oil into your nighttime routine can be transformative.

1. Promotes Deep Relaxation and Sleep

Applying castor oil to your temples or feet before bed can help calm the mind and body. Its natural anti-inflammatory properties may reduce tension and stress, creating a soothing effect that promotes deeper, more restful sleep. A gentle massage with castor oil can also stimulate circulation, helping you unwind after a long day.

2. Hydrates and Repairs Dry Skin

Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid with exceptional moisturizing properties. Applying it to dry or irritated skin before bed allows it to penetrate deeply overnight, locking in moisture and repairing the skin barrier. This makes it an excellent remedy for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or general dryness.

3. Stimulates Hair Growth

Massaging castor oil into your scalp before bedtime can work wonders for hair health. Its high concentration of omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants nourishes hair follicles, reduces inflammation, and improves blood circulation, which stimulates hair growth. Over time, this ritual can lead to thicker, shinier, and healthier hair.

4. Reduces Acne and Breakouts

The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of castor oil make it effective against acne-causing bacteria. Applying a small amount to blemishes or oily areas before bed helps reduce redness, unclog pores, and prevent future breakouts while you sleep. For sensitive skin, dilute castor oil with a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba oil.

5. Soothes Muscle and Joint Pain

If you suffer from muscle soreness or joint pain, massaging castor oil onto affected areas before bed can provide relief. Its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce swelling and discomfort, making it a natural alternative to over-the-counter pain relievers. For enhanced results, apply heat (like a warm towel) after massaging.

6. Strengthens Eyelashes and Brows

For those looking to enhance their natural lashes and brows, castor oil is a game-changer. Applying a thin layer with a clean mascara wand or cotton swab before bed encourages growth and thickness over time. It’s a safe, affordable way to achieve fuller-looking lashes and brows without harsh chemicals.

7. Detoxifies the Body Through Lymphatic Support

Using castor oil packs on your abdomen before bed is believed to support lymphatic drainage, aiding in detoxification. The warmth from the pack combined with the oil’s properties helps stimulate the lymphatic system, reducing bloating, improving digestion, and supporting overall immune function.

8. Fades Scars and Stretch Marks

Regular application of castor oil can help fade scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation. Its ability to penetrate deep into the skin layers promotes collagen production and cell regeneration, leaving your skin smoother and more even-toned over time. Apply it nightly to problem areas for best results.

9. Relieves Constipation Naturally

While not directly related to external use, consuming a small amount of food-grade castor oil before bed can act as a gentle laxative. It stimulates bowel movements by lubricating the intestines, offering relief from occasional constipation. Always consult a healthcare provider before ingesting castor oil, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

10. Enhances Overall Skin Radiance

As a natural humectant, castor oil locks in moisture and provides essential nutrients to the skin. Regular use before bed can improve elasticity, reduce fine lines, and give your complexion a healthy glow. For an extra boost, mix castor oil with other beneficial oils like rosehip or argan oil for a luxurious nighttime treatment.

Incorporating castor oil into your bedtime routine is a simple yet powerful way to enhance your physical and emotional well-being. Whether you’re looking to improve your skin, boost hair growth, relieve pain, or promote better sleep, this versatile oil offers something for everyone. Start small—apply it to targeted areas or experiment with different uses—and discover how this ancient remedy can transform your self-care regimen. With consistent use, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, glowing, and ready to take on the day!

How to Tell If He’s Emotionally Invested – Signs of a Healthy Relationship

by

Relationships thrive on connection, trust, and mutual care.

But sometimes, it's hard to know if your partner is truly invested — especially when emotions run high or communication feels unclear.

Instead of guessing or worrying, focus on consistent behaviors — not grand gestures, but everyday actions that show up over time.

Let’s explore real signs that someone is emotionally present, along with red flags to watch for — so you can build confidence in your relationship choices.

✅ Green Flags: Signs He’s Truly Invested

👂 Listens without fixing

🗓️ Makes time for you

Prioritizes your relationship despite a busy schedule

🗣️ Communicates openly

Genuinely happy for your success

💡 Emotional investment isn’t loud — it’s quiet, steady, and reliable.

⚠️ Red Flags: Warning Signs to Take Seriously

 What Healthy Love Looks Like

Real love isn’t about obsession, jealousy, or constant excitement.

It’s about:

Feeling safe being yourself

Knowing you’re valued

Growing together with kindness and respect

You shouldn’t have to beg for attention or wonder where you stand.

If you're constantly questioning his feelings, ask:

“Am I seeing actions — or just hoping for them?”

That clarity?

It’s the first step toward peace.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need a list of vague “signs” to tell you whether someone cares.

You’ll feel it in how they treat you — day after day.

Because real connection doesn’t hide behind riddles.

It shows up in small moments:

A text checking in

A hand held during silence

A choice to stay close, even when things get hard

And that kind of love?

It speaks — not through clicks…

but through consistency.

Best Steak Marinade

by

The only Steak Marinade recipe you’ll ever need! It’s deliciously robust and the perfect flavor pairing to rich beefy steaks. It’s incredibly easy to make and uses staple ingredients you likely already have on hand. Definitely a must have recipe.

I’ve tried so many different steak marinades over the years but I’d easily dub this balsamic steak marinade as the best! Some marinades tend to overpower steaks (like those lemony ones) but you’ll find this one enhances the steaks flavors without being overwhelming.

Italian seasoning is a blend of dried herbs that can be found in the spice aisle of most grocery stores. This seasoning is typically a blend of dried basil, parsley, garlic and oregano. If you can’t find Italian seasoning, you can blend together your own dried herbs in equal amounts. This marinade works well with most cuts of beef, I recommend using it on flank steak, New York strip, ribeye, sirloin or filet mignon.

Ingredients

1/3 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup olive oil

1/3 cup fresh lemon juice

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder

3 tablespoons dried basil

1 1/2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

1 teaspoon ground white pepper

1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (optional)

1 teaspoon dried minced garlic (optional)

How To Make Best Steak Marinade

Place the soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, basil, parsley, and pepper in a blender. Add hot pepper sauce and garlic, if desired. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds until thoroughly mixed.

Pour marinade over desired type of meat. Cover, and refrigerate for up to 8 hours. Cook meat as desired.

Step 3: Freeze and Chill

To prevent a skin from forming on the surface of the English cream, cover the inside of a plastic wrap with a towel before placing it on the surface. Refrigerate for at least four hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

Step 4: Serve and Garnish

For additional texture and flavor, sprinkle toasted coconut flakes on top before serving (optional). Use a spoon to divide the mixture into servings, ensuring each portion includes a generous amount of both English cream and cocoa nibs.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Chocolate Nougat Treat

Substitute Whole Milk with Coconut Milk

For a richer flavor, consider using coconut milk instead of whole milk. This substitution enhances the tropical notes and adds a creamy texture to the dessert.

Adjust the Sweetness

You can adjust the sweetness of the dessert by adding or omitting the sugar-coated cocoa nibs according to your preference. This flexibility allows you to tailor the treat to suit your taste buds perfectly.

Lemon Cream Cheese Pound Cake

by

Lemon Cream Cheese Pound Cake is moist and soft. It’s simple and sweet, with a buttery taste that melts in your tongue! This is a cake recipe from my mother. This or a Sour Cream Pound Cake was her go-to dessert. For years, I mistakenly believed that was the only Pound Cake recipe available.

Ingredients:

2 cups cake flour ( 8 ounces)

1/2 scant teaspoon salt

8 ounces unsalted butter (if you use salted, omit the salt), room temperature

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

2 cups (14 oz) granulated sugar

6 large eggs, separated – room temperature

2 teaspoons of lemon zest and 1 teaspoon of Boyajian lemon oil or just use 2 tablespoons of lemon zest

1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds (optional)

Glaze

1 teaspoon butter

2/3 cup powdered sugar

5-6 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spray a light-colored tube pan or 12 cup (10 inch) Bundt pan with flour-added cooking spray.

Mix together the cake flour and salt. Set aside. If using poppy seeds, add them to the cake flour.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese and sugar for a good 5 to 8 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl occasionally. Add the egg yolks and beat for another 2 minutes or so. Beat in the lemon zest and lemon oil, scraping down sides of bowl periodically.

Stir, do not beat, in the flour/salt mixture.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Fold the beaten egg whites into the cake batter, then pour into the greased pan.

Bake the cake for 60-80 minutes or until a long skewer inserted in center comes out clean (internal temperature 210 F) or with moist crumbs as opposed to batter. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert and allow cake to cool completely on a rack.

To make the glaze, melt the butter in a large 2 cup microwave-safe measuring cup. Add the powdered sugar and stir to coat. Now add the lemon juice a teaspoon at a time, stirring, until glaze is a good consistency for drizzling. Drizzle over the cake by pouring it straight out of the measuring cup.

NOTES

I like to bake this cake at a slow and low temperature of 325 degrees F. Mine is usually done in a little over an hour, but if you are using a thicker pan or a lighter colored pan (mine’s black), it might take up to 90 minutes. Another tip. If you are using a stand mixer and only have one stand mixer bowl, beat the egg whites first with the clean whisk attachment. Scrape them out of the bowl into another bowl to wait, then proceed with the recipe using the paddle attachment.

Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings

by

Baked till tender, wrapped in a flaky pie crust, and served with a sweet apple cider sauce, these gorgeous Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings are irresistible!

Ingredients

Dumplings:

6 large Granny Smith green apples, peeled and cored

2 9- inch pie crusts

½ cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon salt

6 tablespoons butter

Sauce:

2 cups apple cider

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon cinnamon

How To Make Old Fashioned Apple Dumplings:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Butter a 9×13 inch baking pan, set aside.

Divide pie crust into 6 equal pieces and roll each into about a 7” square or circle. You want the pie dough to be large enough to wrap completely around your apples. Place an apple on each pie dough with the center core facing upward.

In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Divide brown sugar mixture between apples, poking some inside each cored opening and the rest around the base of each apple.

Slice butter into 6 even slices and place 1 piece of butter in the opening of each apple.

Fold the corners of the dough over the apple to create the dumpling around the apple, being sure to pinch the edges together to seal the dough around the apples. Transfer dumplings to prepared baking pan.

In a medium sized saucepan over medium-high heat, add all sauce ingredients and bring mixture to a low boil, stirring constantly. Once the sugar has dissolved, cook for 1 minute longer and then remove from the heat. Let sauce cool for 5 minutes and then carefully pour it evenly over the apples.

Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, until golden brown and apples are tender.

Let dumplings rest for 10 minutes after coming out of the oven. Serve dumplings warm with ice cream and extra sauce poured on top.

Notes

Storage: Store leftover apple dumplings in an airtight container in the fridge, for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F.

The Best Apples for Apple Dumplings: I like to use green granny smith apples, because they give the perfect amount of tartness. However, you can use any apple you like! Fuji, Honey Crisp, or Snapdragon apples are great in these dumplings too.

Apple Cider: If you don’t have apple cider, you can also use apple juice. Apple cider just adds an extra depth of flavor.

Cinnamon Candies: If you want to switch it up, you can add cinnamon imperials (red hot candies) to the center of your apples before wrapping them. This retro twist on the classic adds a spicy cinnamon center to each dumpling.

7-Up Biscuits

by

Pat (don’t roll) the dough into a 1-inch thick circle or rectangle.

Use a 2–3 inch biscuit cutter (or rim of a glass) to cut out about 8 biscuits. Tip: Press straight down—don’t twist!

4. Prepare the Pan

Pour the ½ cup melted butter into your prepared skillet or baking dish.

Place biscuits snugly into the pan, allowing just a little space between each.

5. Bake

Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until biscuits are puffed and golden brown on top.

Optional: Turn on the broiler for the last minute if you want a deeper golden crust—but watch carefully!

6. Rest & Serve

Let the biscuits sit in the warm butter for 5 minutes before serving. They’ll absorb even more flavor while staying crisp on the bottom.

Serve warm with butter, jam, honey—or even smothered in sausage gravy for a hearty breakfast!

Pro Tips

Don’t overmix! Gentle handling = fluffier biscuits.

Use cold sour cream to keep the dough nice and chilled.

Make them mini: Use a smaller cutter for appetizer-sized biscuits.

Final Thoughts

These 7-Up Biscuits are proof that sometimes the best recipes come from the most unexpected ingredients. Whether you’re serving them for breakfast, holiday dinners, or a quick weekday side, they deliver comfort and flavor in every bite.

Pour chicken mixture into prepared pan. Top with remaining cup of grated cheese.Bake for 25-35 minutes, until bubbly and biscuits are golden brown.

TRADER JOE'S FALAFEL MIX COOK & REVIEW

Bacon is one of those foods that everyone loves, but not everyone loves cooking. The splattering grease, uneven cooking, and constant flipping can take the joy out of making it at home. But here’s the good news—you don’t need to struggle anymore. In this guide, you’ll learn the easiest and most hassle-free way to cook bacon that delivers perfectly crispy strips every time, with minimal mess and maximum flavor.

×

Why Cooking Bacon Feels Tricky

Most people fry bacon in a skillet on the stovetop. While this works, it’s often messy and requires constant attention. Bacon can burn quickly, and the grease splatters everywhere. This leaves you with extra cleanup and, sometimes, bacon that’s more chewy than crispy. The trick is to use a method that requires less work but gives you better results.Alternative Hassle-Free Methods

If you don’t want to use the oven, there are two other easy options:

Air Fryer Bacon – Place bacon in the basket in a single layer and cook at 375°F for 8–10 minutes. The air fryer makes bacon extra crispy while draining excess grease.

Microwave Bacon – Use a microwave-safe plate lined with paper towels. Place bacon on top, cover with another paper towel, and microwave for 3–5 minutes. This works best for small batches.

×

Ezoic

Cleanup Made Easy

One of the biggest hassles of cooking bacon is cleaning up the grease. With the oven method, just let the foil-lined baking sheet cool, fold up the foil, and toss it. You’ll have perfectly cooked bacon and almost no mess.

Final Thoughts

Cooking bacon doesn’t have to be a greasy, frustrating task. By switching to the oven—or using an air fryer or microwave—you’ll master the easiest and hassle-free way to cook bacon. Whether you like it chewy or crispy, this method ensures perfect results every time. Try it once, and you’ll never go back to stovetop frying!
